Cartridge demineralization is used wherever partially or fully demineralized water is required in small quantities. These systems are also often used as a short-term backup for counterosmosis systems that are integrated into a process.
In cartridge demineralization, the minerals are removed using a special resin in an ion exchange process. This resin has a certain capacity and must be replaced when this is reached. It cannot be regenerated on site.
